Bad-ass sass

Chelsey Lichtman, one part of the political performance duo Fat Femme Mafia, plays Holly Woods from the rock band Toronto. (Trivia time: The New Pornographers released their cover of Toronto's hit “Your Daddy Don't Know” on the film soundtrack FUBAR: The Album). Hanging tough on the stage at the Dakota Tavern (249 Ossington), Lichtman is all tuff-chick '80s attitude with a contemporary queer-girl twist; she was later spotted leaning against a chain-link fence smoking menthols and melting her eyeliner down with her lighter.

Lichtman wears a shredded '80s black party dress, $3 from a by-the-pound store in Peterborough; hot-pink, plastic earrings, $10 on the street in NYC; black fishnets, $16.99 from Legs Beautiful (366 Danforth); black boots, $50 from “some store on Queen Street – the woman was liquidating all the boots left over from her dad's cowboy boot store from the '80s!”; lezbian necklace, $9.99 from “some kitschy store in South Philly”; and LOVER pendant, “damn expensive” from Berlin.

Lichtman, who is wearing all her own clothes, would like to invite fashion-forward large ladies to check out the FFM's Fat Flea Market at the Gladstone Art Bar (1214 Queen W.) on April 29 from 10am-5pm, for cheap clothes in sizes above 14. “Everything from gitch to glitz!” says Lichtman. Email fatfemmemafia@hotmail.com for details on donating clothes for shopping credit.
