After founding member Matt Brooke's departure, these Sub Pop darlings survived their lineup change and have released a second full-length. Cease to Begin is a collection of 10 indie-rock songs that begin unassumingly yet build to a gallop of dreamy, mid-tempo melodies that are drenched in reverb from beginning to end. Their romantic streak, evidenced in song titles like “Marry Song” and “No One's Gonna Love You,” takes its melancholy shape through brokenhearted lyrics chronicling a relationship that has collapsed. As singer Ben Bridwell sings, “The town is gonna talk,” mainly because this is a band to watch.
